Wow. Just wow. David Patterson, the Democratic (of course) governor of New York wants to place an obesity tax on non-diet soda. Does this tax happy Democrat know that a good portion of people who drink non-diet soda can actually metabolize the stuff properly? There are some of us who can't, but not every one gets obese on sugary drinks.
We can tax EVERYTHING we put into our mouths. Okay? Why not take that crappy Wal-Mart brand pasta sauce that adds corn syrup to its ingredient list and give it an obesity tax? Oh, and don't forget BBQ sauce and candy bars. hell, why don't we just tax for the natural sugars in fruits? Some fruits are worse than others. Oh, and potatoes. The carbs in those puppies blow me up like a huge balloon. So now we can take the only food low income people can afford to buy and tax it so high that they have to go on food stamps to support your Democratic cause.
Isn't it amazing that Democrats will tax you for anything and everything? We already have luxury taxes, capital gains taxes (which are stupid because you pay into the damn thing anyway), sin taxes, sales taxes, gas taxes, etc. So why not an obesity tax? The cow fart tax was bad enough! Hospital taxes and insurance taxes?
We all know you want more people on food stamps and a national health care system because how else would the Democratic party survive? And what a better way than to do it by taxing the crap out of the people.
